Weak sales across areas from electronics to pool supplies is leading to fewer store fronts and shrinking store based retailers. The niche retailers, like pool stores, seem especially hard hit. Some experts predict that this rash of store closings could be the highest in 35 years. It is estimated that as many as 300,000-360,000 retail stores could close in 2008-2009. In addition, as many 2000-3000 smaller malls, were many pool stores reside, could close. Marketing Director Ted Robinson had this to say, "Despite the grim results across much of the retail sector and the pool industry specifically, fiscal year 2008 was our best ever." Robinson added, "We feel very fortunate that we are not seeing any decline in traffic or sales volume at Pc Pools.
