Tip #22: Pool Water Care --- High Chlorine Consumption

If your swimming pool is using more chlorine than it should be, there are multiple issues that could be occurring. First, the total alkalinity could be too low. The simple fix to this is to add an Alkalinity Increaser to raise the total alkalinity to between 80-150 ppm. The second issue that causes high chlorine consumption is high temperatures. Hot, humid weather increases evaporation, which can lead to chemicals being evaporated as well. While Blue Wave Stabilizer can help, a solar cover is a great way to insulate and maintain water and chemical levels as well. Lastly, grease and oil from swimming pool users can lead to increased chlorine consumption. Regular use of Blue Wave Tile and Vinyl Cleaner eliminates such unwanted chemicals and can reduce your overall chlorine consumption as well.
