PcPools Notes Fourth Quarter Increase in Sales
Specialty Retail Shopping Continues to Move Online

total overall online sales increased about four percent (4%) on Cyber-Monday and during the
fourth quarter 0f 2009.
Despite the downturn in the overall U.S. retail sales, Internet
research company COM Score Inc. reported that overall online sales spiked 4 percent to $913
million on “Cyber-Tuesday” not Cyber-Monday. For the record Cyber-Monday was the second busiest
day of the Holiday season.

First high gas prices and then the recession kept more Americans home in 2008. Last year, U.S. motorists reduced driving by the most in 66 years according to the Federal Highway Administration. Some of the decline in driving was due to Americans taking fewer family vacations. One way families are coping with rising gas prices is to bring the family summer vacation home. Stay-at- home vacations, or “stay-cations” are becoming more and more popular with families. PcPools Announces Tips to Determine Pool Leak
PcPools announces tips on locating a leak in an above ground pool liner.
St. Paul, MN - PcPools, one of America’s leading direct marketers of above ground pools and pool supplies for residential and commercial pool owners announces 3 simple tips on how to locate and fix a leak in an above ground pool liner.
Step 1. Determine if there is a leak. The first step is to determine whether your above ground pool liner has as leak. Sometimes a loss of pool water can be due to other factors such as evaporation. Pool water evaporation can be especially common in hot windy climates. The “leak test” is very simple. The pool owner needs to perform what is called the “bucket test.” The bucket test involves filling a 5 gallon bucket almost to the top, then setting the bucket in the pool so the rim is just a few inches above the surface. Mark the water levels on both the inside and the outside of the bucket, and check the levels in 24 hours. If the drop in the pool and the bucket are the same, this means the water loss is caused by evaporation. If the loss in pool water is greater on the outside of the bucket, there is likely a leak in the pool liner and more serious leak detection measures will need to be performed.
Step 2. Find the leak. To locate the leak, a swimmer will be necessary along with red dye. This is called the “dye test”, which consists of squirting red dye in susceptible areas of the pool (seams in the pool liner, pool walls, by in pool inlets, skimmers, etc.) to puncturing, tearing or improper seals. Generally speaking, the most susceptible area in an above ground pool is where the pool wall meets the pool floor. Once the red dye is placed near the leak, you will see the dye pulled into the leak by the suction force of the leak. This should really pinpoint the precise area of the leak.
Step 3. Repair the leak. Once the leak is detected it is important to repair the leak. If the leak is repairable, vinyl pool liner patch like EZ Patch 28™ is a great fix. This amazing sealer can fix a leak in your vinyl pool liner without a patch and can match any color of pool liner. Simply apply the clear sealant to any hole above or below the waterline and this amazing formula creates its own patch. Skins over in 5-10 minutes; cures completely in 48 hours. Pcpools Notes “Cyber-Monday” Increase
Holiday Shopping Heads Online, with increased revenues and order volume in 2008.

Seven tips from the pros for winterizing your above ground pool

- Vacuum your above ground pool & remove all debris from the bottom using an automatic above ground pool clean
- Use a Blue Wave's Winterizing Pool Chemical Package to add the correct pre-formulated chemicals for your pool size.
- Drain Pool Filter tank of all water. Bring your pool pump/motor indoors to protect from inclement weather. Remove return eyeballs and install Winterizing Plugs.

- Never allow your youngster to swim alone without any adult supervision. It is quite common
to develop a cramp underwater, or for accidents like hitting your head while diving for example,
to occur. It is paramount that there should be persons around to help in such situations.
- Do not allow children with no knowledge of swimming in or around the pool. For good pool
safety make sure that all kids above the age of 4 attend a certified swimming class,
or at least learn basic flotation techniques and life saving techniques in
case of accidents. Children should always be accompanied by their parents
in the pool.
- Enclose your pool with high fences,
which can be locked. Do not leave the pool open
and accessible since children can fall inside. Keep your pool safe, and keep your kids
away from the poolside.
- Avoid leaving your kids alone even with small portable pools or water bodies like buckets, fountains,
and barrels. There is always a danger of drowning occurring even in small bodies of water.
- In case of a backyard swimming pool, make sure that the
pool cover is completely lifted off the
pool. Do not partially open the pool. Also make sure that your child does not walk over the pool cover.
- Spas and Hot Tubs must also be avoided, especially in the case of younger children
who are susceptible to overheating.
- For good pool safety,
you can make sure that there is always a life
saving flotation device handy near the pool. Also, every parent should be
knowlegable in basic CPR techniques in case of any accident.
- Last, but not the least, to ensure swimming pool safety, be observant.
Watch what your kids are up to, and supervise their activities. Never leave
them alone even for one second.

PcPools releases 10 Steps to get children swimming for new and current pool owners

PcPools takes swimming pool safety very seriously and having children become good swimmers is a one way to improve pool safety.
Marketing Director Ted Robinson had this to say, "Few activities provide more summertime enjoyment than swimming in a back yard pool. There is no better way to cool down on a hot summer day than a cool dip in a swimming pool. However, we also recognize that playing around any body of water can be dangerous especially for younger non-swimmers. Studies have shown that the earlier in life kids begin the easier it is to teach them to swim. Three to five years of age is the best time to begin swimming lessons. With summer around the corner, PcPools would like to encourage parents to teach their children to swim with these 10 tips.
- Take lessons from certified swimming instructors. Do not teach the child yourself. Get lessons at the YMCA or a city pool or community recreation center.
- Choose the right teacher. You can rely on most certified swimming instructors to be competent but it never hurts to interview them. Ask them where they were trained, how long they have been teaching and their approach. Try and choose an instructor that best fits their child's personality. Make sure that all kids above the age of 4 attend a certified swimming class or at least learn basic flotation techniques.
- Start Early. The sooner the child starts the more comfortable they will be in an around the water. Many YMCAs and recreational city pools offer parent-tot classes beginning as early as 6 months of age. Individual lessons generally start around age 3.
- Make sure the child is well rested. Studies demonstrate that children who are well rested are more apt to learn than if they are tired and stressed. Make sure your child behaves appropriately. What they learn in swimming class may very well save their life.
- Expose children to water early. Obviously under strict supervision, expose your child to pools, beaches, lakes and let them enjoy themselves around the water. The more experience they have with water the more comfortable they will become.
- Practice swimming year around. Just like everything else, children's skill levels drop when they are not doing the activity. Try and find a pool open in the winter to polish their swimming skills they learned. The more they swim the better they become.
- Be a good role model. Be a safe swimmer yourself. If parents are fearful or careless around water their children will pick up on those traits. If you are not a strong swimmer yourself, enroll in swimming lessons along side your child.
- Explain the benefits of swimming. Tell your child why learning to swim is important. Swimming is good physical exercise, it can be a lifesaver and it is a whole lot of fun.
- Be knowledgeable to help with common mistakes. A parent should strive to know enough about swimming to gently point out common mistakes that young swimmers make. You do not want to have bad habits reinforced away from the watchful eye of a swimming instructor.
- Reward success. Find a reward system that works for you child when they achieve certain swimming goals.
Robinson further points out that "learning to swim is never a substitute for watching what your kids are up to in and around the pool and always supervise their pool activities. Never leave them alone around the pool even for one second."

St. Paul, MN- March 01, 2008 - The above ground pool industry has stayed at a marginal growth rate for several years. In 2007, however, the demand for above ground pools increased nearly 20% compared to 2006. The increase in demand proved highly beneficial for PcPools, as sales increased 25% for its above ground pools.

PcPools Moves to Expand Headquarters
PcPools rapid growth leads to expansion
St. Paul/Minneapolis- Jan 11, 2008- PcPools has moved to expand their facility to St. Paul.
Due to its rapid growth PcPools has moved into larger headquarters.
Assistant Marketing Director Ted Robinson had this to say about the move,
"Moving into the new space allows us to accommodate our expanded customer service
department and support staff. Having the expanded space facilitates a better environment
for our customer service agents which are integral to our business. Likewise, the online
